JamBandPurist at Lockn': Saturday, August 27, 2016

August has been the best month of music in my life; Another Fans.com VIP Experience at Lockn’ Music Festival. Here is a backstage view for Galactic and Hard Working Americans. @LOCKNFest
Todd Sniders and his ragdoll dancing; spindly limbs flailing about like some Hobo Hipster God Man. Far out! Dave Schools is still dropping bass bombs on his audiences even with added touch of grey in his beard and hair. Neal Casal blew me away with heavy psychedelic guitar riffs.
Riding the Rail to Jam Town
Here is Joe Russo, the most “dead-icated” member of Phil and Friends, showing up first and smiling the whole time. What a drummer and professional.
My Morning Jacket slew the Nay-Sayers with covers of “Purple Rain” and “Rebel Rebel” paying homage to both recently deceased artists, Prince and David Bowie. I really dig Jim James stage persona. What a performer and interesting character. MMJ are a unique blend of Alt-Rock mixed with some grunge, reggae, punk; throw in some heavy jams to go along with it and it’s a sound all their own. They played my favorite MMJ song “Wordless Chorus” lyrics-
So much goin' on these days
Forget about instinct, it's not what pays
Pleasure, up and down my smile
A carton of eggs think, it's all worthwhile
Tell me spirit, what has not been done?
I'll rush out and do it, or are we doin' it now?
Fissure is the thrill of day
Forget about feeling, that's not what pays
But you know, all of this can change
Remember the promise as a kid you made
We are the innovators
They are the imitators
Come on, hey don't you know how we started
We forgot about love, but weren't brokenhearted
Things got weird in The Woods with Khruangbin, a strange Bollywood, Asian Surf band. I headed over to catch Lettuce as they funked up a nasty “Express Yourself” One of the best nights in the books!
